Accurate Characterization of Electromagnetic Band-gap Structures

In this paper, electromagnetic band-gap (EBG) structures are accurately characterized using a free-space method. The field transmission and reflection parameters exploited to determine the effective material both inside outside regions of EBG structures. (EM) properties refractive index, wave impedance, permittivity, permeability at multiple derived from single scattering computation. phase attenuation constants correctly define boundaries region level within band gap. Deviations in incidence angle normal direction alter EM properties; hence, operating bandwidth is as expected due inherent structure anisotropy unit cells.
